Defines recommended practice for calculating design stresses for US DOT specification MC-338 cargo tanks having a load-bearing jacket. It is a supplement to DOT's design criteria for these cargo tanks, not a replacement for them. The design methodology recommended may be used for new construction and may apply to cryogenic cargo tank repair and modification. It is aimed for use by design-certifying engineers or others qualified in the design of cargo tanks.
