About the Technical Association of the Pulp & Paper Industry
The Technical Association of the Pulp & Paper Industry (TAPPI) fosters growth in global forest products, pulp, paper, tissue, packaging and related industries.
Based in the United States, the association leads its 7,000 members in exploring innovative solutions and strategies to improve business. As an International Center of Excellence, TAPPI contributes to science, engineering and technology knowledge, provides education, leadership and skills training and promotes industry networking and collaboration.
TAPPI has a key role in developing national and international Standards and Technical Information Papers (TIPs). It publishes Test Methods, Specifications, Guidelines and Glossaries Standards. TAPPI is a Certified Standards development organisation (American National Standards Institute), and accredited education provider (The International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training).

Founded in Georgia in 1915, TAPPI now has more than 7,000 members, including engineers, managers, scientists, academics, suppliers and others with expertise ranging from sustainability and renewable chemicals to nanotechnology, bioenergy and biofuels.
The International Center of Excellence drives industry innovation and growth through research, emerging technologies, networking and knowledge exchanges, education and training opportunities, plus Standards development.
TAAPI promotes emerging technologies and drives innovation that enables members to discover new ways to maximise production. More than 300 committees are involved with activities such as research, professional development, training courses and conferences, networking and collaboration and Standards development.
TAAPI holds the world’s largest repository of technical information for the paper and packaging industry. The association’s Standards and Technical Information Papers (TIPs) are used across the globe. TAPPI publishes four types of Standards: Test Methods, Specifications, Guidelines and Glossaries Standards. A technical working group ensures they meet industry recognised best practices.
The association provides up-to-date industry news via 10 publications, including the flagship Paper360˚ and peer-reviewed scientific periodical TAPPI Journal.
TAPPI is a non-profit association. It was formed in 1915 as the technical arm of the American Paper & Pulp Association, to create a forum for the exchange of information and ideas related to production. It is governed by a Board of Directors, with the support of the President and Chief Executive Officer. TAPPI’s headquarters are in Peachtree Corners, Georgia, in the US.
