This method describes the procedure for the determination of the percent dispersion of a soil at the 0.005 mm particle dimension. The method is used in conjunction with AS 1289.3.6.3-Determination of the particle size distribution of a soil -Standard method of fine analysis using a hydrometer. It is therefore necessary, in addition to this test, to perform a normal hydrometer fine analysis as described in AS 1289.3.6.3.NOTE: This method may also be known as the SCS test (U.S. Soil Conservation Service) or double hydrometer test.
