Describes a method measuring the projected length of a number of wool staples as they pass a light beam sensor. The mean length of a number of staples is calculated.

This standard sets out a method using the CSIRO staple length meter for measurement of unrestrained staple length of greasy wool which is suitable for combing. An estimate of the precision of the method is given in Clause 9.
