Specifies essential safety requirements for approval and test purposes. It is to be read in conjunction with AS 3100. Identical with NZS 6232:1996 and produced as a Joint Australian/New Zealand Standard.

This Standard applies to electrical equipment for use with spa-baths and spa and swimming pools, which are intended for operation at low voltage.The following are examples of electrical equipment to which this Standard is applicable:(a) Spa-bath and spa and swimming pool pumps.(b) Spa-bath and spa and swimming pool heaters.(c) Spa-bath and spa-pool blowers.(d) Pool chlorinators.(e) Automatic chemical injection equipment.(f) Spa-bath and spa and swimming pool control equipment.This Standard does not apply to the following:(i) Spa and swimming pool luminaires.(ii) Equipment for use with aquariums and fountains.
