This Variant introduces the following changes: - the nominal transient return voltage is replaced by the nominal factor of the first pole that opens; - the nominal time durations are moved to Article 5 (Design and construction) and are no longer nominal values; - the calculation of the interruption duration is referred to the IEC document TR 62271-306; - the number of specimens for tests is eliminated; - a new T100a asymmetrical test cycle is defined; - the return transient voltages are added for circuit breakers with a nominal voltage equal to or less than 52 kV used in systems with neutral effectively grounded; - paragraph 6.111 (Operation of capacitive currents) has been rewritten; - some Information Annexes are deleted and referred to IEC document TR 62271-306.
