Diese Norm legt Haupt- und Anschlussmasse, Werkstoffe und Anforderungen für Durchgangshähne und die zugehörigen Hahngriffe fest. Die Durchgangshähne werden im Bergbau, unter Berücksichtigung der in Tabelle 2 angegebenen Drücke, vornehmlich als absperrbare Anschlüsse für Schläuche nach DIN 20018 Teil 1 bis Teil 3, mit Schlauchanschlussteilen nach DIN 20033, an z.B. Rohre nach DIN 20002 Teil 1 bis Teil 3, sowie Maschinen und Armaturen eingesetzt.
