Blechprofilroststufen nach dieser Norm werden vorwiegend in Betriebsanlagen der Hütten- und Walzwerke, der chemischen Industrie, der Lebensmittelindustrie, des Bergbaus, der Kraftwerke, der Automobilindustrie, sonstiger Industrieanlagen, wie z. B. Wasser- und Abwasseranlagen und des Hoch- und Tiefbaus eingesetzt. Sie dienen als Stufen für Treppen, Treppenleitern und für sonstige Zugänge. Stufen als Teilausrüstung für Maschinen und maschinelle Anlagen müssen auch die Festlegungen nach DIN EN ISO 14122-1 bis DIN EN ISO 14122-3 erfüllen.
