A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

Applicable to waters which may have been pre-treated if necessary, the chemical oxygen demand (COD) of which it is situated between 15 and 300 mg/l. A water sample which meets these conditions immediately in every respect shall be used directly as analytical sample.
