A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

The analysis methods are intended for the determination of lead contents over 1000 mg/kg (0.1%) in rubber, rubber compounds, elastomers and ebonite. Two methods are described, and the choice between these two shall depend on the available test apparatus. In the event of arbitrational analyses, therefore, the analysis method to be used must be agreed. To determine lead contents up to 1000 mg/kg (0.1%) DIN 53599 Part 1 is applicable, alternatively also DIN 53599 Part 3 (see also Explanations).
