Diese Norm legt das allgemeine Verfahren zur Bestimmung der mittleren Molmasse und der Molmassenverteilung von - Polystyrol (PS), - Polymethylmethacrylat (PMMA), - Polyethyleneglykol (PEG), - Polydimethylsiloxan (PDMS) und - Pullulan in einem Molmassenbereich von 500 g/mol bis 20000 g/mol durch die matrixunterstützte Laser Desorptions/Ionisations - Flugzeit - Massenspektrometrie (MALDI - TOF - MS) fest. Die mittleren Molmassen und Massenverteilungen werden über eine Kalibrierungskurve berechnet, die mit Hilfe von synthetischen und/oder Biopolymeren erstellt wird. Daher handelt es sich um eine relative Methode.
