Schweissflansche nach dieser Norm sind vorgesehen für Behälter und Seekästen auf Schiffen. Für Aussenbordanschlüsse, z. B. von Rohrleitungen, sind ausschliesslich Schweissflansche nach DIN 86041-2 zu verwenden.
