This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies an atomic absorption spectrometric method for the determination of the vanadium content in iron and steel. The method is applicable to vanadium contents (mass fraction) in iron and steel of 0.005 % or over up to and including 1.0 %. It is not, however, applicable to samples with a tungsten content (mass fraction) of 1.0 % or over and/or a titanium content (mass fraction) of 0.5 % or over.
