States requirements for forging and heat treatment of carburized and hardened main propulsion gears in 3% NiCr case hardening steel for use in HM ships and submarines. The forgings will be required for pinions, and wheels/wheel rims which are assumed to be produced by upsetting or as hollow forgings.
