Le présent document établit la définition technique des pierres d'horlogerie dites "fonctionnelles" et "non fonctionnelles". La pierre d'horlogerie peut être naturelle ou synthétique. On l'appelle fonctionnelle seulement si, par sa présence, elle augmente la stabilité du frottement et diminue l'usure des surfaces en contact des pièces de l'appareil horaire.
