GENERIC REQUIREMENTS FOR VALVE REGULATED LEAD ACID CELLS

Superseded date

01-12-1996

Published date

12-01-2013

Defines Bellcore's view of proposed generic requirements for recombination type lead-acid or valve regulated lead-acid (VRLA) cells. These cells can be used in central offices as well as in confined locations for the continuous float operation. They are also intended to supply the continuous power feed to the telecommunications load equipment during the loss of rectifiers or the ac power input. Single container as well as multiple container units are covered. If the individual cells are valve regulated, they may be connected in series or in parallel into multiple container units. Under normal voltage & temperature operating conditions, VRLA cells are expected to require no additions of electrolyte, be essentially gassing-free & have no remaining bulk liquid electrolyte in the container.
