Provides Bellcore's view of proposed generic requirements pertaining to the basic functions & features for Wideband & Broadband Digital Cross-Connect Systems (W-DCS & B-DCS) used in the inter-office networks. W-DCS provides SONET, DS3 & clear channel DS1 interfaces & the basic functions of a floating Virtual Tributary 1.5 (VT 1.5) & DS1-level cross-connection. B-DCS provides SONET & clear channel DS3 interfaces & the basic function of Synchronous Transport Signal Level 1 (STS-1) & DS3-level cross-connections. Also includes criteria applicable to a DCS3/1.
