MODELS OF CONCRETE STRUCTURES - STATE-OF-THE-ART
01-12-2013
07-23-2013
Models of concrete structures play an important role in structural design, research and education. In this report, models and modeling techniques are described. Ultimate strength models are emphasized because they simulate the behavior of the prototype for loads up to and through the ultimate. The advantages and disadvantages of model testing relative to analytical methods are discussed. Similitude requirements are established and methods of constructing and testing the models to meet these requirements are outlined. Several examples of model studies are included, with costs and 4elapsed times listed. The report is divided into five chapters: 1. Introduction. 2. Role of Physical Models in Structural Concrete Design. 3. Materials and Techniques. 4. Model Studies. 5. Summary
