Describes measuring methods for characteristics to be specified for sound system microphones. It defines rated conditions and normal operating conditions which have been adopted as standard measuring conditions. It is technically identical with IEC 268-4.

This Part of this standard defines the characteristics of sound system microphones to be specified by the manufacturer and, where applicable, specifies relevant measuring methods and conditions.Clause 20 classifies the individual characteristics into those which must be provided as markings on the microphone, data which shall always be specified in manual or technical specifications and additional data which may be given by the manufacturer.NOTE: 'Sound system microphones' includes wide-band microphones, microphones normally used for speech and close-talking microphones.
