Describes procedures for tensile shear tests and compressive shear tests on four types of test specimen, viz. lap joint specimen for close-contact assembly adhesives where it is difficult to obtain suitable veneers and only simple equipment is available; two-ply specimen suitable for close-contact assembly adhesives but requiring more sophisticated equipment and providing a higher degree of precision; specimen for testing gap-filling adhesives; and specimen for testing adhesives used in the production of panels such as plywood and particle board.

This standard describes procedures for tensile shear tests and compressive shear tests for cured wood-to-wood adhesives.The tests may be carried out dry, wet, at standard room temperatures or at modified temperatures.NOTE: Long duration tests are dealt with in AS 1321.5, Behaviour of Cured Wood-to-Wood Adhesives under Long-Term Loading.
