Specifies characteristics and test methods for wrought stainless steels intended for short-term implants and long-term implants. Type A requirements are technically identical with ISO 5832-1 Type A steel but Type B differs from ISO 5832-1 Type B. Amended limits for nickel, chromium and molybdenum are aimed at superior resistance to corrosion.
