Specifies requirements for the construction of freezer test packages, intended for use in the determination of performance of frozen food retail cabinets (AS 1731), and any freezer compartment of household refrigerators (AS 1430), or similar appliances. Three alternative types are given, with one indicated as preferred.

This standard specifies requirements for the construction of freezer test packages, intended for use in determinations of the performance of -(a) frozen food retail cabinets (AS 1731); (b) any freezer compartment of household refrigerators and freezers (AS 1430); and (c) any similar appliances for which such test packages might be appropriate. The standard describes three basic designs which may be used alternatively (see Preface). However, Type A is considered to be the preferred type, and it is recommended that all new and replacement packages, and particularly measurement packages, be of this type.
