Provides guidelines for designers, purchasers, and users of power transmission gearing using spur and helical gears. It is also an information source for American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA) Standards on which This Standard is based. It covers basic gear data, calculations of power rating, quality and measuring practices. Alternative calculation systems for the geometry factors for pitting resistance and bending strength, not included in the AGMA Standards, are given. Worked examples are also included. A related IBM PC (compatible) diskette (SP 001-1987) is also available.
