This Standard sets out a graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometric procedure for the determination of lead in venous and capillary blood. The method is applicable to the determination of lead in whole blood in the range 0.25 mmol/L to 6.0 mmol/L, provided that the recommended precautions are taken to prevent clot formation in the sample, and that the sample is preserved prior to analysis (see Clause 6).
