Sets out a three-phased approach to implementing an AS/NZS ISO 9000 quality system. The Clauses of AS/NZS ISO 9001 (and AS/NZS ISO 9002) are distributed across three modules. Phase I is achieved by implementing the Clauses contained in any one module; Phase II, the Clauses contained in any two modules. Phase III, achieved when all three modules are implemented, gives a complete AS/NZS ISO 9000 quality system. Contains advice on the risks associated with the phases approach and gives guidance on auditing of a phased quality system.

This Standard specifies requirements for the implementation of a quality system in three phases. The Standard provides for three Modules containing requirements. Phase I consists of any one Module, Phase II, any two Modules and Phase III, all three Modules. A fully implemented Phase III quality system should be capable of complying with either AS/NZS ISO 9001:1994 or AS/NZS ISO 9002:1994.
