This Standard relates to vernier height gauges graduated: in inch units up to 48 inches, to read with the vernier to 0.001 inch; in metric units up to 1 metre, to read with the vernier to 0.02 mm; in both inch and metric units, to read with the vernier to 0.001 inch and 0.02 mm. In height gauges graduated to both inch and metric units both the scales may be on the front of the beam or, alternatively, the inch scale may be on the front and the metric scale on the back.
