This Standard deals with penetrant testing of both seamless and welded ferrous pipes having an outside diameter of not less than 1/8 inch (3.2 mm). For the purposes of this part of the standard, liquid penetrant examination is applicable to the exterior surface of all pipes, and to the interior surface of pipes having an inside diameter of 6 inch (150 mm) and greater.
