This specification applies to dry primary cells and batteris of the following types: Zinc-carbon; Mercuric oxide; Silver oxide; alkaline manganese dioxide. Standard sizes, cell arrangements, and terminal facilities are specified as well as some design and structural features. Batteries are classified according to their cell type and intended application, and relevant capacity tests are prescribed. The specification does not apply to re-chargeable or re-fillable batteries.
