This Standard describes a standard method for determining extractives content of wood, pulp and paper using a variety of optional polar and non-polar organic solvents. This revision of the Standard contains better information about the hazards and environmental implications of the solvents used, restricts the extraction apparatus to soxhlet, requires solvent to be recovered, and specifies a fixed drying time for the extract.
