Gives definitions for and specifies general requirements for overspeed limiting devices used for the protection of reciprocating internal combustion engines and their driven machinery. Applies to reciprocating internal combustion engines for rail traction, land and marine use, excluding engines used to propel earth-moving and road construction machines, industrial and agricultural types of tractors, aircraft and road vehicles.
