In accordance with the CENELEC HD 451 S1 Harmonization Document, identical to IEC Publication 347 (1982), the Standard applies to transverse track video recorders, i.e. video recorders that use four video heads that rotate in a plane perpendicular to the direction of the movement of the tape.
