Provides specification for the system for lotting and batching of ammunition for use by the Ministry of Defence. Does not cover nuclear material, guided weapons and their components, and foreign conventional ammunition. It is intended that the system will ensure consistent performance, aid identification and withdrawal from use of rounds or components which have proved unsatisfactory or are life-expired, identify a definite quantity for which the results of inspections, proof, test or other forms of surveillance can be representative, facilitate the maintenance of records.
