Intended for use in earthworks and foundation engineering. It specifies rapid methods of determining the water content of cohesive and cohesionless soils whose solid components do not undergo chemical changes in the course of testing. Determination of the water content serves to assess the engineering properties of soil, the test results being used as a reference parameter when evaluating other laboratory and field tests.
