Activated charcoal is used for the treatment of water to produce drinking water. Its uses include, for example, the removal of substances imparting odour and taste, colouring matter and oil, as well as the catalytic acceleration of chemical reactions, typically of oxygen with hydrazine, and also for the removal of chlorine or ozone.
