GERMAN STANDARD METHODS FOR THE EXAMINATION OF WATER, WASTE WATER AND SLUDGE - JOINTLY DETERMINABLE SUBSTANCES (GROUP F) - PART 7: DETERMINATION OF SIX POLYCYCLIC AROMATIC HYDROCARBONS (PAH) IN DRINKING AND MINERAL WATER BY HIGH PERFORMANCE THIN LAYER CHROMATOGRAPHY (HPTLC) (F 7)

Describes methods to determine selected PAHs (see table 1) in drinking water [1] and in mineral and table water [2]. They may also be used to examine ground water and also slightly or moderately polluted surface water. Two methods are described: a) Method F 7-1, for identification, to exclude those samples whose PAH content is less than 25% of the limit specified in [1] and [2]. b) Method F 7-2, for quantification, for concentrations (combined total of six PAHs) from 40 ng/l to 240 ng/l. For higher concentrations (cf. sub clause 9.5.1), smaller aliquot volumes are to be used.
