Die Norm gilt für die Ermittlung des Norm-Nutzungsgrades und des Norm-Emissionsfaktors von Heizkesseln (im folgenden Kessel genannt) für den Heizbetrieb, für die Wassererwärmung ohne Heizbetrieb und die Wassererwärmung mit Heizbetrieb. Sie gilt für Kessel nach DIN 4702 Teil 1, Teil 3 und Teil 6. Zweck dieser Norm ist es, für Kessel in Kombination mit Brenner und Kesselregelung bezogene Daten über das Betriebsverhalten für einen definierten Lastverlauf hinsichtlich des Norm-Nutzungsgrades und des Norm-Emissionsfaktors zu ermitteln. (Siehe auch Erläuterungen.) Die Norm legt die Durchführung und Auswertung der Messungen auf Prüfständen fest.
