Describes a simplified method of determining window sizes in dwellings where windows as restricted to one wall. The values given in the tables below ensure that the requirements for daylighting specified in DIN 5034-1 are met, it being assumed that the windows are vertical and rectangular. The information provided in the tables can also be used to establish the dimensions of windows in work rooms which are roughly the same size as a typical living space. For other types of work areas, daylighting should be designed on a case-by-case basis in accordance with the requirements specified in DIN 5034-1.
