Specifies the method of measuring the thickness of coatings on metallic and non-metallic substrates by the wedge cut method. The method described is suitable for paints and related coatings which enable a cut to penetrate the coating down to the substrate. For multilayer systems the method may also be used for determining the thickness of individual layers differing in colour. It is a destructive method.
