The method specified is to be applied whenever the operational conditions and procedures specified in DIN 51756 Part 2 cannot be complied with owing to the low air requirement or higher heat of evaporation of alcohols and alcohol/fuel mixtures. The method serves to test alcohols and alcohol/fuel mixtures and to evaluate their knock characteristics by the research or motor method.
