Describes the composition, preparation, properties and application of a standard reference elastomer (SRE) made of acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) with a low acrylonitrile content. This SRE is used for additional characterization (additional to other characteristic values such as viscosity) or test liquids and greases which are selected and standardized as representative of certain groups of technical liquids and greases of the mineral oil industry, but which, as technical products within certain limitations, have fluctuations in the composition 1).
