Applies to the measurement of batroboxin time in plasma obtained from citrated venous blood. Batroboxin time is not affected by heparin, heparinoids or hirudin, but is increased by most fibrin polymerization disorders. It can therefore be used to determine the inhibiting effect of fibrin degradation products, and to detect hypofibrinogenaemias and dysfibrinogenaemias. It can also be used to establish whether heparin affects thrombin time.
