Proposes guidance in eliminating or minimizing the need to enter confined spaces, and avoiding exposure to hazards which may be experienced where entry to a confined space is necessary. Includes Sections dealing with risk identification and assessment, monitoring prior to entry, education and training as well as first aid and rescue. Appendices propose additional guidelines for cleaning and hot work in confined spaces and atmospheric monitoring, as well as the provision and use of protective and safety equipment. A sample permit form and typical checklist are also proposed. Issued as a proposed joint Standard with Worksafe Australia.
