Proposes the adoption of IEC 61859:1997 as a Joint Australian/New Zealand Standard. The IEC document makes recommendations which ensure the safety of the patient, the operator and any other persons present during the time that the radiotherapy equipment is in use. General construction requirements are not addressed.
