Deals with manual ultrasonic testing of in-line ferritic steel fusion welded butt joints in ferritic steel components greater than 10 MM thick. The components may be pipes, plates, castings or forgings. Covers welds between pipes and/or other components whose outside diameters are greater than 50 mm, through special measures are specified for outside diameters less than 100 mm. For pipes/components less than 12.5 mm wall thickness with diameters less than 120 mm and underground weld caps, Technique A of eats 98-10, Part 3, may be used as an alternative.
