This Handbook provides a comprehensive guide to the planning, geometric design and implementation of bicycle facilities both on- and off-road. It includes guidelines for the provision of bicycle lanes on roads and freeways, and bicycle paths or paths used jointly with pedestrians, either adjacent to roads or on separate alignment. Guidance includes the signposting, pavement marking and lighting of bicycle facilities. Appendices cover requirements for safety at works on bicycle facilities and bicycle safety audit. This is a joint publication with Austroads and forms one part of a 14-part series.
