This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies submersible pumps of single-suction single-stage centrifugal type with pump bores of 40 to 150 mm which are used for pumping sewage and miscellaneous drainage at 40 centigrade degrees or lower and with pH values of 6.5 to 8.0 produced from buildings and other facilities and containing solids 20 mm or smaller in size, which are suspended or stationarily installed in sump pits and driven by 2-pole or 4-pole three-phase induction motors of 50 Hz or 60 Hz rated frequency that are directly connected with the pumps through a common shaft or shaft coupling, hereinafter referred to as the \"pumps\".
