This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies general common matters such as terms, symbols, classification, maximum ratings and performances of laser diode modules for fiber optic transmission (modules which have optical fiber pigtail or optical fiber connector and contain such simple elements as monitor photodiodes, thermoelectronic cooling elements (Peltier elements\"), temperature sensors and optical isolators as needed. Hereafter referred to as \"semiconductor laser modules\") to be used as an optical souree.
