This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the testing method for permanganate number of paper pulp, hereinafter referred to as the \"K number\". The K number indicates the number of ml of N/10 potassium permanganate (KMnO4) solution consumed for 1 g of bone dried pulp and is intended for use in the measurement of the cooking and bleaching degrees of pulp.
