This Standard specifies requirements for single-use puncture needles used to assist in the insertion of compatible diagnostic or therapeutic procedure needles specified by the manufacturer and distributor into the body. This Standard is not applicable to guiding needles that are used for injecting or draining drug solutions, for direct procedures, or for puncturing bone tissues.
