This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the gas masks, hereinafter referred to as the \"mask\", for inhaling by cleaning the air containing poisonous gases and vapors, hereinafter referred to as the \"poisonous gas\", generated in work area, and the masks for inhaling by cleaning the air containing the fume, mist, particulate dust, etc. mixed with poisonous gas, hereinafter referred to as the \"poisonous gas and others\". However, this standard does not apply to the respiration apparatus used at the place with a possibility or under 18 % in oxygen concentration, the place with a risk of the presence of high concentration poisonous gas and the place where radioactive substance exists.
